Midlife crisis

Was telling a bunch of high school friends today, that I was going through a mid life crisis. We met after six months (one of the classmates who joined us, I haven't seen since 1998!)

They pretty much scoffed at me and said they refuse to accept that "we" were in the middle of our life(if I was in midlife, they by extension were in midlife too) or that what I am going through constitutes a crisis.

My passing reference to a crisis was because of

1. constant health issues in-spite of watching what I eat, the more frequent exercise (compared to no exercise)

2. the crazy work schedule and the associated stress that comes with it

3. increasing inability to make the little one drink a glass of milk or finish her cheerios (it is much worse compared to Jr.)

Apparently these do NOT qualify as constituting a crisis.

Whatever!

I read somewhere the real midlife crisis is not when you think it hits you.

But really when others think its hit you !

Naah.. midlife crisis is when you get a red porsche and a leather jacket (or in case of south indians- a red tshirt and yellow pants :D )..I think its just recession and parenting stress now :)!

If this is midlife crisis, then even though one is blessed with BigOne and Dude in place of LO and Jr, it looks like it should be a full blown full life crisis....

Health pblems....check
Workstress ......check
Milk and Cheerios.... wait till the onset of Mcdonalds Vs Spinach-Karela wars

looks like the whole world is in agreement that there should be no crisis.. midlife maybe.. but no crisis..

there was more to it than meets the blog..

last monday the docs literally scared the crap out of me by suggesting that my pain could possibly be a prostrate problem..

after competing with some lab rats and winning, finally found that it was something to do with intestines that will go away..

it was the scare that put me on a downward spiral..

the thoughts that conflict...

"what if that scare was real?" vs. "thank goodness it wasn't!"

but the mind keeps going back to that.. there is a last will and testament now.. there has been logins to bank accounts that were never checked in the last 8+ years since San took over all things money related.. don't even know what my paystub says these days as long as San doesn't complain.

fear has the power to act like dark shades.

have taken a more postive attitude to things now..

this weekend we celebrate ten years of married life and that is indeed something to celebrate!

:)

here is to god, for sending San to me.

Well, good luck to you. I am sure this too shall pass.

Technically, aren't you too young to be in a midlife crisis? I would think so. Wait till you are at least 40:-)

I guess I have been frequenting since the little one was born. Or before. Anyhow, its sort of strange to see her asserting so much power now:-) But good for her. In her defence, all kids today are just slightly more decisive and stubborn. With all the information around them, I doubt kids these days could be like those 2 or 3 decades back.

Anu, is there a similar definition for the South Indian women? :)

You left out the most important indicator of mid life crisis --> sexually attracted to another female/engaged in affair.

Kajan,
you have a very valid point there!

WA, unless Anu says otherwise. same jacket for you also..

anon, come on.. we are talking your typical south indian desi dude here..

legend has it that I can spot a woman at a 100 feet, even when she is directly behind me..

the same legend also has a postscript which says, san can spot me spotting that woman, with her eyes closed.

:)
