i am not a big fan of that either (including preemptive arrests, war, etc.) but these guys were already in chat rooms which involved children.. hence the sting!

This was in conjunction with the "to catch a predator" series on Dateline NBC, that aired on Friday. They showed many of the men responding to the decoy's chats, arriving at a house already surrounded by police and were interviewed by Dateline's reporters. I don't have much of an opinion on whether their methods were right or wrong, but watching these men arrive with condoms, alcohol and sex toys was appalling.
