Namma Veetu Kalyanam (Our house's wedding)

There is a program on Vijay TV (South Indian Channel available on Direct TV) called Namma Veetu Kalyanam where they show celebrity weddings and interview the bride, groom, relatives, etc.

This is hilarious because they make some of these episodes from old actor/actress weddings.

In one such show (religiously watched by wife and MIL) they had an actress who is ~80 years old explain her wedding that happened 60 years ago. Amazingly they had a totally two, one minute clips of that wedding. The rest of the episode was done with photos and any interviews of folks still alive who could recollect anything about the wedding..

Actress : Everything went so well ! (and she was reminiscing about her hubby who died a long time ago)

we were all thinking.. "your husband has been dead for 25 years already! when you say everything went so well, are you talking about the wedding ~60 years ago?"

This program still gets an A+ from San and MIL and they watch it as though someone in our house is getting married.

One good news. Celebrity wedding videos are as bad as our own wedding video.

Bride and groom :

10 progressively get exhausted standing under light as time goes by
20 people come
30 stand still in front of video (and these are actors who should know that the video captures motion!),
40 pose for a second
50 hand over a gift
51 compere flashes her face in view and shakes her head in impossible directions while simultaneously pursing her lips in equally impossible directions
60 shake hands
70 GOTO 20

The other funny part is not all these celebrities are actual celebrities. Some of them are soap opera actors who are not really that well known, even to San and MIL who would by now know everyone from the "guy who walked down the street on episode 459 of Manni" or "the woman who was third row second seat in the paadai removing scene in the 854th episode of Pondaati", etc.

That means they are running out of celebrity weddings. Either more celebs have to get married (or get married more often) or more people have to be given celeb status.

Next thing you know there will be "Namma veetu divorce" or "Namma veetu kaadhu kuththal", "Namma veetu seemandham" etc.

We can always count on the audience to receive these programs well..

Hilarious !!

Namma veetu kaadhu kuthu !! There is one big jasmine in our ears, with such programs !!

yet, they attract attention. I strongly suspect that it is caused by some sub conscious revenge ploy in our minds !

to see the 'celebrities' suffer, after having heaped on us untold suffering ! By way of soaps and movies !
Hilarious post !
